-- Overview --

Matters relating to examinations have been defined to ensure that equitable and transparent assessment processes are applied. Examinations are subject to specific rules as governed by the ISSPCS Academic Board.

-- Description --

Scheduling

Once an ISSPCS Examination is scheduled, it may only be re-scheduled with the authority of the President of the ISSPCS Academic Board. This may be under the delegated authority of the President within a particular region.

Availability to sit examinations

Candidates are expected to be available to undertake their examinations at the scheduled time and at the location as specified by the ISSPCS Academic Board.

Under extenuating circumstances only (not, for example, personal, organisational or travel arrangements in Australia or overseas for purposes unrelated to study), candidates may be allowed to undertake an examination at a designated overseas or interstate venue with the student paying for the venue, supervision and associated administrative costs.

Conduct of Examinations

a) Candidates shall bring to the examination venue valid and current photo identification.

b) A person other than a candidate, examinations supervisor or other authorised person may not, except with the permission of a supervisor, enter or remain in an examination room during an examination.

c) A person, whether a candidate or otherwise, who is given permission to enter or leave an examination room shall comply with all conditions on which the permission is given.

d) A candidate may not enter an examination room before being given permission to do so by an examinations supervisor.

e) A candidate for an examination shall, upon entering an examination venue, proceed without delay to the place the candidate is directed to occupy for that examination by an examinations supervisor or by notice or other means, and shall not leave that place except with the permission or by the direction of a supervisor. A supervisor may at any time direct a student to leave any such place and to occupy another place specified by the supervisor, and a candidate shall without delay comply with any such direction.

f) No candidate may leave the examination room before the expiry of thirty (30) minutes from the commencement of the scheduled examination starting time.

g) A candidate shall not remove from the examination room any worked script or paper provided for use during the course of the examination, or other material unless permitted by the examination supervisor.

h) A person present in the examination room shall comply with any such requirements or answer any question so asked. If the person fails so to do, the examination supervisor may require the person to leave the examination venue.

i) If, in the opinion of an examination supervisor, a candidates behaviour is such as to disturb or distract any other student, the supervisor may require the person to leave the examination venue. A supervisor shall have and may exercise all such powers as are reasonably necessary to ensure the proper and efficient conduct of the examination.

h) If a person who is required by an examination supervisor to leave the examination venue fails to do so forthwith, the permission given to be on the premises of which the examination room forms part shall be deemed to be withdrawn and the person may be dealt with accordingly.

i) A candidate who commits a breach of any part contained within these examination rules shall be guilty of misconduct for the purposes of the ISSPCS Certification and shall be liable accordingly.

j) A student shall not cheat nor attempt to cheat in an examination. Cheating is defined as any behaviour by a candidate in relation to an examination that is intended to defeat the purposes of the examination.

Late arrival for examinations

Registration for the examination should be 30 minutes before the examination. No candidate may be admitted once the examination has started.

-- Use of materials and equipment in examinations --

Calculators and other electronic devices

Calculators may be used in examinations as approved by the ISSPCS Academic Board. A list of approved calculators is available upon request and is held at the examination venue.

Unless specifically permitted, no other form of electronic calculation or storage device, or device capable of allowing communication within or beyond the examination room, will be permitted in an examination.
