About the ISSPCS Grandfathering system

Suitably qualified professionals may apply for an ISSPCS Practitioner certification, without having to sit or pay for the Practitioner exam, by utilising the ISSPCS Grandfathering Programme.

To gain the option of possible appointment as an ISSPCS Practitioner via the Grandfathering Programme, the applicant must meet or exceed these requirements:

  1. The applicant must be able to demonstrate they currently hold one of the following certifications:
         a. a current CISSP certification from ISC2, OR
         b. a current CISM certification from ISACA, OR
         c. a current GIAC Security Expert (GSE) certification, OR
         d. a current SSE-CMM Appraiser certification.
    ISSPCS will also consider any reasonable individual request for Grandfathering where the applicant's Information Security qualifications fall outside of the current criteria.
     
  2. The applicant must be able to demonstrate no less than five (5) years of work experience in the Information Security field.
     
  3. The applicant must provide a current resume, showing work history that is relevant to the Information Security and/or Information Security Engineering fields, and summaries of engagements in Information Security activities.
     
  4. The applicant must provide one personal (character) reference, written by an associate. All references must contain a postal and email contact address of the author, as well as their contact phone number. Reference writers may be contacted by appointed ISSPCS administration for the purposes of confirming the reference.
     
  5. The applicant must provide one professional reference written by an associate, describing their work exposure, work quality, and work ethic. This must be authored by a separate individual to the character reference. All references must contain a postal and email contact address of the author, as well as their contact phone number. Reference writers may be contacted by appointed ISSPCS administration for the purposes of confirming the reference.
     
  6. The applicant must have successfully completed an ISSPCS Grandfathering Scheme Application, including agreement to uphold the ISSPCS Code of Ethics.

Due to unprecedented demand, The ISSPCS Academic Board had taken the decision to continue accepting applications via the Grandfathering Programme beyond the original closing date.
