About the ISSPCS Practitioner Certification
dot
The designation "ISSPCS Practitioner" reflects upon the holder as being a competent and practicing Information Security and Security Engineering practitioner. Being the first of four possible levels of certification within the ISSPCS programme, all applicants must begin at the Practitioner level, either through examination or via the Grandfathering system. After the applicant holds a Practitioner designation, they may proceed to further levels.

Candidates studying for the Practitioner examination are recommended to download the freely available ISSPCS Practitioner References, found in the Resources section.

The Practitioner examinations are conducted in a proctored environment. Applicants with special needs must contact their local exam co-ordinator as soon as possible. The Practitioner examination itself will run for 4 hours once the exam has begun and is closed book. Exam proctors will inspect applicants as they enter to ensure they do not possess any notes, and will supervise the conduct of the applicants for the duration of the exam.

The questions will consist of a variety of multiple choice and scenario based questions drawn from all areas of the ISSPCS Subject Matrix. All applicants must adhere to the ISSPCS exam rules. Exam attendance will be pre-payed by the applicant in their local currency. Please use the table below titled Regionalised Costs, by Country to discover the fees for your region.

Upon the successful appointment of an applicant as an ISSPCS Practitioner, the newly appointed applicant is granted three years of certification, without additional cost beyond the exam fee. After the initial three years have elapsed, the Practitioner must show they have remained active within the Information Security and Security Engineering industries. This is done via an Assessment Points (APs) system, where credit is given to the Practitioner for activities undertaken. Like the exam, the triennial renewal fee will be payable in the Practitioners local currency. More information on the recertification process is available under the Recertification section.

All candidates are expected to uphold the ISSPCS Code of Ethics at all times. Granted certifications may be withdrawn where the ISSPCS Code of Ethics is found to have been breached.
